Wildlife in Your Own Backyard
I have bird feeders in the backyard. My wife and I enjoy the birds.
Our visitors feed multiple times daily. Those little feathered minstrels greet the sunrise with their cheerful little songs and Mary Rose loves to open the window in her office so she can hear them.
Squirrels, too, entertain us with their crazy antics as they try to find a way to get suet from the feeders, only to find when they get to it that it is hot pepper suet. Birds have no taste buds, so, they eat the suet without ill effect. The squirrels, on the other hand, taste the hot pepper and are not wild about it.
Well, to be nice, I put out shelled peanuts for the squirrels and they don’t take long to find them. If they are not quick about it the blue jays will get them first and those ravenous pigs will eat them in a heart beat.
Here are a couple of shots I took with the Nikon D5600 and the Nikkor 55-300 AF-S ED VR lens this last Sunday morning.
